Why SithVixen?

SithVixen is a nickname that I was given when I bought my first "real" costume, by one of the seamstresses working on it. (Darci)

I've always had a penchant for bad guys and being that she was making me a bad guy's Star Wars costume, I was so dubbed and the appellation kind of stuck.

Sometimes I look at it and wish I could change the name; since it sounds way too focused considering the scope of costumes that I create....but so many people have come to recognize my work by that name, it would be counter productive to turn around and pick something better. It's also easy for most people to remember.

Why costumes? Why not gardening or painting or some other hobby?

Well I've always been an "artsyfartsy". Ever since I was a kid I loved movie costumes (I sooo wanted to write to the people who made the Ninja Turtles and get one of those cool latex costumes!!!) and I have always been in to acting, modeling and singing. Check out my acting resume, it dates back to Jr. High!

However, I've never been located somewhere in which I could actually use these talents. (I.E. New York or California) Besides, I'd have to get in line with 50000 other hopefuls who will never make it either. I don't really have hope in being successful I guess.

But that doesn't mean I can just shut out my creative side. It is something I have to express or I feel just downtrodden.

It's like being really good at Golf but giving up on playing because you will never make it into the LPGA. That's just stupid.

Costuming is about as close as I can get to the real thing, it's fun, it earns recognition and there are plenty of people who love it too.
